Also, I even recorded the mic input on my desktop PC with no microphone even connect at all, and it has the same exact static, so it can't be the microphone at fault. I've also updated my Realtek HD Audio sound drivers to the most recent, but still no luck.

I've heard that some times grounding can be an issue, but it's plugged into a grounded outlet socket I even tried it plugged into a surge protector, but no luck. The only thing I can think of, is that my PSU is kind of old. Do you think it could be causing electrical interference with the mic inputs? Tried to download it from the manufacturer website Realtek did not go through. Tried to uninstall like many have said and reboot, still the same static sound. I cannot even roll back to previous realtek sound card. I've done everything, and if I missed something here, I've probably done it but I just can't remember to type it here. I also looked at Microsoft's website to fixing sound issues with no avail.

I've googled it but it seems like it gets into some programming stuff you have to know how to do by going through the old-fashioned C: prompt, and I'm nervous to screw something up. Rift s Mic broken?

I also am having the audio flatline whine and the display going black. Unit was running OK when it would link up, but now it seems to randomly shut down several times a day. It is becoming unusable because games crash and you can't save progress. The Rift S seems to be getting worse instead of better. Very sad.
